GO CRAZY ON YOUR VACATION
According to a psychiatrist in France there are around a dozen cases reported each year of Japanese tourists who need psychological treatment after vising the city of Paris. The phenomenon was dubbed “Paris Syndrome” by the French newspaper Journal du Dimanche, which wrote that the effect happens when “the reality of unfriendly locals and scruffy streets clashes with their expectations.” According to the psychiatrist who this newspaper interviewed, of the dozen cases reported each year, “a third of patients get better immediately, a third suffer relapses and the rest have psychoses.”
