British scientists have found the fossil of the largest bug ever to roam the Earth, an ancient sea scorpion that was about the size of a compact car. "We have known for some time that the fossil record yields monster millipedes, super-sized scorpions, colossal cockroaches and jumbo dragonflies,” said Simon Braddy, a University of Bristol paleontologist. “But we never realized until now just how big some of these ancient creepy-crawlies were.” Scientists believe that the sea scorpions were cannibals that fought and ate each other, which caused them to evolve into such massive creatures.
